A Chazen ART•SPIN Community Celebration – featuring live performances by local musicians and arts groups, hands-on activities, and exhibition tours.

12:30 PM Black Star Drum Line Boys and Girls Club of Dane County’s senior performing group

1:15–2:15 PM Award winning storytellers Sadarri and Company will present “Journey from West Africa” Join us for this presentation of music, dance, poetry and languages as you travel on an imaginary journey from West Africa through the Caribbean and into the United States.

2:30–3:00 PM Anthony Lamarr. Lamarr is a cross-disciplinary music talent with a gift for vocal percussion (“beat-boxing”).

3:15–4:15 PM Limanya Drum and Dance Ensemble, under the direction of Mandjou Mara, performs traditional music and dance from Guinea and Mali, West Africa. By incorporating song, dance, drum and theatre, Limanya's performances are high-energy entertainment for all audiences. Limanya is composed of a diverse group of dancers and drummers from the U.S. and Africa who share a love of African tradition, celebration, and culture.

12:30–4:00 Hands-on make and take activities offered thoughout the day courtesy of the Wisconsin Union, henna art tattoos by Celebrations Art Studio, docent tours, face-painting, games, music and refreshments.

*ART•SPIN  events are presented for the Madison community with support from area businesses and organizations.
