Expansion Opening Weekend – Open Houses

Saturday October 22 and Sunday October 23
12 to 5 p.m.

Saturday program

  • 12 p.m. Ceremonial door opening, followed by a dance performance by Mark Denning
  • 1:30 p.m. Screening of Drama Queens, the video of a play by Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset, in which sculptures by famous twentieth-century artists converse. Made in Germany, 2007, 42 minutes. This is a rare opportunity to see an art video from the permanent collection.
  • 2:30–3 p.m. Performance by Latino Arts Strings
  • 3:30 p.m. Screening of Drama Queens

Sunday program

  • 12 p.m. Performance by bagpipers Tom Greenhalgh and Sean Michael Dargan
  • 12:30 p.m.–2 p.m. Sunday Afternoon Live from the Chazen with Pro Arte Quartet, in Brittingham Gallery III, Elvehjem Building
  • 1:30 p.m. Screening of Drama Queens
  • 2:30–3 p.m. Performance by the Mount Zion Choir
  • 3:30 p.m. Screening of Drama Queens

Forty-minute tours highlighting the expansion and collections in the new galleries will be offered every 15 minutes from 12:30–1:30 p.m. and 3:15–4:00. Tours meet in the main lobby.

“The Chazen Dozen” scavenger hunt of artworks and fun facts will be available in the main lobby during the open house. Docents will be in individual galleries to assist.
