The first Faculty Exhibition included work from these artists.
A part of the Chazen Museum of Art’s fiftieth anniversary celebration, the juried 2020 Faculty Exhibition is open to faculty who use art making in their teaching or research.
“The Chazen is a resource for the entire university, and we know that there are faculty making art in many departments across campus,” says Chazen Director Amy Gilman. “I look forward to seeing how faculty interact with and respond to our collection.”
The call for entries is open to current UW–Madison faculty. Proposals should explore relationships between the artist’s own work and specific art works in the museum’s collection, or the artist’s own work and the museum’s public spaces. Juror Gary Garrido Schneider, executive director of Grounds For Sculpture, will select the winning proposals in May 2019. The exhibition will be on view throughout the Chazen during the spring semester of 2020.
Faculty from departments including—but not limited to— art, art history, arts administration, dance, communication arts, creative writing, interdisciplinary theatre studies, interior architecture, landscape architecture, music, textiles and fashion design, theatre and drama, and visual culture are encouraged to apply.
