Gallery talk by Thomas Zickuhr

February 27, 6:00 PM to 6:40 PM | Pleasant T. Rowland Gallery

Thomas Zickuhr (Lecturer, School of Education: Art) discusses his piece, Balance.
Balance / n.d.
This free-standing neon piece presents the word “balance” in blue neon. Incorporating an antique microphone stand, this work is both a reference to sound balancing, and a play on the idea of balance as a design concept when conceiving and presenting works of art.
Thomas Zickuhr is a neon artist and glass blower. He owns and operates Neon Lab, a neon glass shop in Madison. Zickuhr has a BFA from UW–Oshkosh and an associate’s degree in concept design and animation from Madison College. He has worked in the medium of neon for twenty years.
